Reviving a grand old Victorian Semi, partly lost during WWII
Located close to Sefton Park, 103 and 105 Hartington Road were once a pair of majestic Victorian semi-detached houses. Unfortunately, during the Second World War 105 was badly damaged in a bombing raid, leading to its demolition. 103, on the other hand, survived the war, but was left standing next to a vacant plot where 105 once stood, remaining undeveloped for 70 years.
During this time, 103 was converted into five poorly designed bed-sit flats, which was a far cry from its original state of grandeur.
The Redevelopment
Our team was passionate about breathing new life into the historic property and restoring it to its former glory. We began by rebuilding 105 to match 103, including reconstructing the basement to provide more space. Next, we stripped 103 back to bare brick, underpinned the house, and tanked the original basement as part of the works.
After months of hard work, we successfully delivered four six-bed flats, each with ensuite bathrooms, across the completed development. With a total spend of around £900k, we were able to transform the neglected property into a modern and luxurious living space that still retained its original charm and character.
The Result
The revitalised 103 and 105 Hartington Road property is now a testament to how a forgotten piece of history can be brought back to life with the right vision, skills, and passion. Our redevelopment not only added value to the property but also gave it a new lease of life that will continue to be appreciated by generations to come.
